End Polio Now
Rotary International and its clubs around the world are 1.2 million neighbors, friends, and community leaders who come together to create positive, lasting change in our communities and around the world. They are especially dedicated to eradicating polio.
Rotary launched the first effort to immunize all children against polio in 1985. Since then, Rotary members have been unflagging in their leadership to end this disease, donating their time and personal resources to protect children everywhere.
To date, more than 230 million children across Africa have been immunized. Only three countries are polio-endemic. The remaining 1% of polio cases are the most difficult to prevent because the virus persists in the hardest-to-reach areas.
Through the End Polio Now program, 60 cents can vaccinate a child for a lifetime. That means that each room night booked through Hotels for Hope can vaccinate 3 children for a lifetime.
This RoomFunding project, in partnership with Austin Cosmopolitan Rotary Club, will fund polio vaccines for 8,333 children.
