SOTX Summer Games Athletes
Special Olympics Texas
The mission of Special Olympics is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.
Special Olympics Texas has six statewide events annually: Summer Games, Equestrian, Sailing/Kayaking, Fall Classic, Winter Games and Flag Football. Statewide competition locations vary approximately every three years. 3,000 athletes train and attend the Summer Games each year. Sports included in the Summer Games competition include: athletics, soccer, cycling, basketball, gymnastics and tennis.
This RoomFunding project will fund 100 athletes at the SOTX Summer Games.
